Everything You Need to Know About Capital City Shock 16U Softball

Welcome to the Capital City Shock FAQ—we’re here to help answer the most common questions from parents, players, and supporters. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact us directly.

Any female athlete age 15 or 16 who meets the age eligibility for 16U softball is welcome to try out. We look for players who are competitive, coachable, and committed to growing as both athletes and teammates.

We host open tryouts several times per year, typically ahead of the spring and fall seasons. Tryout dates and registration info are posted on our Tryouts page and social media channels. You can also contact us for upcoming sessions.

Practices are held at Fair Oaks Park and Freedom Park which are in the Greater Sacramento area.

We generally practice 2–3 times per week, with additional optional clinics or workouts during tournament prep. Schedules are balanced to allow players time for school, family, and rest.

Team fees vary by season and help cover expenses such as:

  • Tournament registration
  • Uniforms
  • Field rentals
  • Insurance
  • Training resources

We’re committed to keeping the program affordable and transparent. Payment plans and fundraising opportunities may be available.

We compete in AST and Legacy tournaments though out California, Nevada, and Oregon.

Yes. While our core focus is skill and character development, we also help guide athletes who are interested in playing at the college level. This includes:

  • Competing in showcase tournaments
  • Creating highlight reels

Providing recruiting support and guidance

Our program offers:

  • Position-specific instruction
  • Strength and conditioning sessions
  • Game strategy development
  • Mental performance coaching

We focus on complete player development, both physically and mentally.

Absolutely! Many of our players also compete on their high school teams. We coordinate our schedules to avoid conflicts and support multi-sport athletes.
